I am so looking forward to my next gvg now!
My guild is pretty new and none of us have a lot of experience of pvp at the really serious levels (a lot of us are role player types and we mostly pve). Thus our rating is somewhere in the 8000 mark, yet till now we have only ever faced one team that was not in the top 1,000.
Oddly enough, we have only won a handful of times, and had our heads handed to use much more.
I do appreciate the learning curve from playing against good teams, but a slightly shallower curve might let me experiment a bit more first

they have given the necros the best looking armour in the game and someone would found something wrong with it.

jesus the online sever is free they could be charging us like other games do

To clarify what I was saying earlier:

There are a few variations of that message. Even though it says that "you may use such characters in whispers/international" - you can't. A similar message will appear saying that your account isn't valid to input/send messages in it. :|

I don't understand why they would make this change...

Its not a complaint. Its a criticism.

Surely 15k Tormentor's could have looked better. I dont think it has enough details imho. I actually like the boot-strappy-ness of the 1.5k much better, but again, just my opinion. Some seem to like it and I guess that is all that matters.

I would report that as a bug.

I'd like to see someone that has dyed the tormentor's 15K black. It looks like it would be pretty sweet (almost like the Warrior's FOW dyed black).

I was surprised about the changes to the attack skill icons about having the wrong weapon equipped - to me, this was pretty self explanatory, especially when you clicked on the attack skill and it gave you the message about the wrong item equipped.

First, Tormentor's - glad Necros got it.

Improved GvG matchups - I like to think that I had a hand in this because I have been absulutely HOUNDING them recently to fix it, as I'm sure many have. I have ye to try it, but I hope that if No Guild is on anywhere near your mark - the system will at least tell you, so a decision can then be made.

Whirling Defense - I am a Ranger and I am farming Mountain Trolls for the Tusks, and I've been doing it in Iron Mines mission. I have to get through Giants first though - which is OK as they drop good items and runes also. My W/Mo guildmate and I make the farm-run...well we did it the day before this update and all I needed was Whirling Defense to ward off most of the Giants' attacks. We ran through and up to the Griffons, 3 or 4 times.

THEN, after the Update (which I di not know occurred) - we made the same runs, same skills/attributes/builds, etc... Whirling Defense barely warded off anything. I died repeatedly and we couldn't finish a single run. It did not work against the Giants. Of course after you have a little DP on you - it's like hanging a steak around your neck - mobs go straight for you. They will now weave through your party and if no one attacks them, they will head straight for the player with most DP - funny to watch. I noticed it and we then tested it - OMG, they did not attack the Monk with 2% morale boost - they went after the Warrior, hanging in the back for the test, that we previously had die in order to be the only player with DP. The mob weaved their way through 7 of us, passing the Monk without even a sniff - these were Grawl and Troll we tested on - Shiverpeaks.

I digressed. My point is that I think the tinkering with Whirling Defense and what it does when blocking projectiles (like Giants boulders thrown at you) caused a problem with the actual 'defending' of the projectile. It does still seem to work fine against Melee attacks though - just not projectile attacks.

Christmas stuff - if it was to be done, it should have been done by now. A guildmate of mine is going to miss Guild Wars over his College Christmas break (going home of course) and he is the biggest fan of the 'special events'. He collected a ton of Pumpkin heads and has like 30 of every Halloween item and is freakish on the specialness of it all (he stayed up all night and participated in every King event in Lion's Arch). I can't believe that the Arena Net people would do that to players, knowing that tons of them are college students.

My 2 cents...

I think people do have a valid reason to comlain..

Why DID the tormentors armour take so long?... if it was special people would understand, but it isnt... I still think its a poor 'joke' on ANET's behalf damaging their relationship with the community. ( I Picture the Frog and gaile laughing to each other about how they tormented the public with the tormentors armour )

Christmas dec's... I can understand people being disappointed in this, after all our Haloween event was MUCH better than what WoW had so we expected ANET to try continue this one-up-manship.

wow players and developers will definatly be using this to TORMENT gw players and ANET.

I would say though that there is a good chance our Christmas event will yet again be better than WoW's..

Remember: Haloween Items that WoW players got were deleted or un-usable after the event... we can still use our items and the pumpkin head is still there. Good chance we will keep our christmas hats..

I dont really mind waiting a bit longer for a better event and we will all quickly forget our complaints.

As for the rest... nice work, we really do appreciate the fix's even tho we may complain.

Sorry I doubt the developers schedule revolves around your friend's or any user's schedule. Its a holiday even not Joe's Christmas Special. Christmas is a full week away.
Anyways, I rather them do it right than push it half ass for couple more days.

No offense - but this seems childish. You are measuring your entertainment value based on what other's think?

Tormentor armor?
It looks OK. Its not my cup of tee - then again why complain about "looks"? Its a subjective thing. It may look bad to you but it seems others really like it.
Not like we are talking about skill nerfing here.

Not sure what that means. When I have "guild" chat open and enter/leave a town or just go thruogh a portal it still reverts back to "all"

And is it really necessary to have all the complaints whenever an update is released? You got your tormentor's armor. If you don't like how it looks get some other armor.

yea I know, maybe it is a little childish.. but it is a game.. we play games to entertain the little children inside us.

people feel very strongly about 'their game' and if their friends who say 'my game is better' get to say "ha ha I was right" then yea it does miff you off...

a little childish as you say, but we are still human and our natural instinct is to "keep up with the jones's"

I dont mind admiting that the little kid inside me is miffed about it.. lol, but just like a kid I would probably forget about it quickly IF the xmas event will be worth the wait (which I suspect it will be)

No Christmas decorations...

But Gaile said something about how it was too early for a winter festival update. Then, I was thinking that it might update on the winter solstice...maybe on the 21st or 22nd.

Winter solstice = Winter festival (aka Christmas Update)

Using brain = Good

Chinese/Korean input seems to be working (totally useless to me). Why?
I can input kanji but not kana.

=.= it gives me an error message. Thats just DUMB!

I dont understand the reasoning behind this change?!??!?!

From my armour

Hey, I just saw, if I change my game to english, it does not display that one anymore. I'm German and my German game says "Reduces damage ON THIS SPOT". The english description is still the same though.

i'm not too pleased about the update because the christmas theme is not yet up and and i don't like the reskin of the 15k tormentors.
it's not that it's bad, it's just that all the time they put into realeasing it raised my expectations so, i feel that i'm right in complaining about it.
i'm glad spiteful spirit works better tho.

I dont know if it was mentioned (I aint reading 5 pages) - But now they show ALL energy ups and downs just like they do for necromancers Soul Reaping skill.

That means if you are wearing a Zealous weapon - EVERY.SINGLE.HIT you'll have to see a little purple +1 above your head.

I kind of was freaked out by the new "dont have the right weapon" icons. There blackened (like a used up Rez Sig), have a big red Mark going through their top left corner, and have a picture of the weapon you need over the icon.

Happy about Whirling update- before this I'd only once ever seen it actually do ANY dmg to enemy rangers...
